Exercise 11

Exercise 11 is to help build a big sound and to work on the low range.

To play Exercise 11
  • Take a deep, full low breath
  • Tongue cleanly and firmly. No D or H tonguing
  • Do not take a breath between the last half note and the whole note
  • Make brick shaped notes
  • Hold the whole notes out full the whole time
  • Do not allow any break or slowing of the air between the last half note and the whole note. Play the half note full volume until the last possible instant when you have to tongue the whole note
